Grind Out Road Win

Short-Handed Kings Grind Out Road Win Over NC Ballers

It wasn’t pretty, but it was exactly what good teams find a way to do.

Coastal Kings FC traveled to Charlotte with just 13 available players and walked away with a hard-earned win over NC Ballers in brutal 92-degree heat.

This was a game of attrition. At one point, both sides were reduced to 10 men in a match shaped as much by officiating decisions as by play on the field. The thin roster meant heavy minutes across the board, with no margin for fatigue or mistakes.

But the Kings held. They managed the game, absorbed pressure, and found enough to secure the result. It wasn’t about style, it was about resilience.

With the win, the Kings move to 3–2 and sit 6th in the table, with games in hand on most teams ahead of them.

Coach’s Notes – David Koebler: “Wow, what a performance from this group. We had a really odd week with a lot of first team players unavailable. Half the roster today came from our second team. The jump from Division 1 to the Premier is massive. Division 1 is like 35 mph, Premier is like 80 mph. Mistakes in Division 1 don’t always punish you. In Premier, one mistake ten seconds into a match can change an entire 90-minute game. That is how tight this level is. To see these players step up and perform at this level is massive under that level of pressure. I would call a club victory. These are the wins that are fun.”
