The Coastal Kings FC continued their strong start to the season with a 3–2 victory over Pre-College Development Academy on Sunday, September 28. The win moves the Kings to 3–1 in the Mid-Atlantic South Division of the UPSL, an excellent opening stretch for the first-year expansion club.
The Kings wasted no time setting the tone, with defender Chris Comber scoring just two minutes into the match—his second goal of the season. Midway through the second half, Shannon Blake extended the lead, finishing calmly for his second goal of the campaign. The highlight of the afternoon came from Zack Hargreaves, who netted a spectacular Olimpico directly from a corner kick. The strike marked Hargreaves’ third goal of the season.
In goal, Jesser Vasquez-Velasquez, a high school junior, impressed against more seasoned players. Despite the team conceding twice, he made four standout saves and delivered a composed performance well beyond his years. His effort was pivotal in securing the result for the Kings.
With the win, Coastal Kings FC remain firmly in the early playoff hunt. The team now returns home for a marquee matchup against Soda City FC on Saturday, October 4 at 7 PM.
