SAVANNAH, GA

The Coastal Kings FC suffered their third loss of the season this past weekend, falling down to fourth place in the league standings. Despite the setback, the Kings remain firmly in the hunt for a playoff berth, as the top four teams will advance to the postseason.

The loss comes during a stretch of the season that has been particularly challenging for the Kings, who have been dealing with a number of key injuries that have impacted lineup consistency and overall performance. With several core players sidelined, the team has had to rely on depth and flexibility to stay competitive in what has proven to be one of the toughest divisions in the league.

Head Coach David Koebler reflected on the recent results, emphasizing that the team’s performances have often been better than the scorelines suggest.

“Yeah, we dropped a couple spots in the league. It’s a tough division. Any team can beat any team on any given day,” said Koebler. “All three of our losses have been similar. We maintain possession for a majority of the game; many times outplaying and dominating our opponent. We create multiple goal scoring chances and either come up unlucky by hitting a post or crossbar (something we did in each of the three games) or we miss opportunities like this is rec ball. In the three games we have missed half a dozen finishes within six yards of the goal. We put in half of those goals and the balls hitting the hardware go in; we would be sitting top of the table and likely already clinched playoffs. But it’s an unforgiving game. When your opponents get four or five opportunities to finish and put in three, you have to be better in front of the net. We will be back at training this week focusing on finishing like our life depended on it.”

With four matches remaining in the regular season, the Kings face a tough road ahead. They face first-place SCU Heat, a team that narrowly defeated the Kings 2–1 earlier in the season. And the Kings will square off twice against third-place Charleston United—a crucial series that could determine the club’s playoff fate.

Despite the recent dip in form, the Kings continue to show resilience and attacking promise. If the team can capitalize on the chances they’ve been creating and regain their early-season rhythm, a postseason run is still well within reach.

The Kings return to action this weekend as they look to reclaim their momentum and make a strong push toward the playoffs.
